The Eden Alternative at Fairview Manor
In May of 2001, Fairview Manor became a registered Eden
Alternative Facility. Nationally,
there are only a few hundred facilities that have received this
recognition. In order to become an
Eden Alternative Facility, one must be committed to the pursuit of creating an
environment that seeks to eliminate the three plagues of Nursing
Homes-Loneliness, Helplessness, and Boredom.
One must also commit to creating an environment that promotes
companionship, opportunities to give care, and creates variety and spontaneity
on a daily basis. Fairview Manor has
committed itself to these principles and strives on a daily basis to enhance
the lives of our residents. To learn

One very important aspect of the Eden Alternative is the
Elimination of Loneliness, Helplessness, and Boredom. These are the three plagues of Nursing
Homes. At Fairview Manor, we
provide our companionship of animals and children, the opportunity to give
care to others, and a very enlivened environment that creates variety and
spontaneity on a daily basis.
Below are just a few pictures of the many ways in which we work to
eliminate these plagues from our home.
Duchess is
just one of the four cats that live at Fairview Manor. Not everyone likes the companionship of
an animal, but that’s okay. For
those who do desire this type of companionship, it can be found at
Fairview.

The daycare kids
and the residents spend time together each week doing a variety of
different activities. Above, they
are exercising together.
Relationships bring quality of life to our
residents. At Fairview Manor, we
pay a lot of attention to relationships and work at nurturing relationships
between the residents, staff, children, and the animals that live in our
home.
